GSPs Can Host Unranked Dedicated Servers for MW3 Sun Oct 30, 2011 10:40 am
A day after instigating a tweeter campaign (where I got as many people as I could to bombarded @fourzerotwo @michaelcondrey @glenschofield) asking the vital questions, Michael Condrey finally answered:

Q1. Are server files stand alone?
A. Yes

Q2.Does steam have to be running in order for dedicated server to run?
A. No

Q3.Can multiple servers run from 1 dedi box? or is it just one instance?
A. Yes. multiple per

Image

This is fantastic news! this means anyone - and I do mean anyone - can run a dedicated server, be they an individual or a company. No Steam account is needed to run them, and as such Steam does not have to be running. This means they will definitely run on a dedicated box, and we can in fact run multiple instances of a server on one box.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the campaign, and especially to Cprl.Rst (aka vampiejay) for getting the actual tweet response.

And thank you Michael, for taking the time out of your trip to London, to answer us.

MW3 Multiplayer World Reveal Fri Sep 02, 2011 1:31 pm

NOTES:

1. It looks very washed out for a world reveal. But it does give you a view of what you should expect to see on your own rig.

2. Compared to the HD BF3 videos, it looks very dated now. And we've seen most of the assets used 2 times before. Lazy development, trying to turn a quick buck with the least possible effort.

DEMON MW2 MOD COD4

Mod Details
===========
Version: 1.7
Author: DemonSeed and Tally
Email: tally_man@hotmail.co.uk
Support Site: http://www.demon-mod.com

NB: DEMON MOD DOES NOT SUPPORT MAPS CITYSTREETS OR CROSSFIRE BECAUSE OF ALL THE NEW MODELS

New This Release
----------------------

Pezbot - Demon mod now supports Pezbots. Please read the Demon Pezbot readme file included for full details.

Demolition Gametype - Straight from MW2, Demolition plays like SAB only with 2 objectives.

Intervention Sniper Rifle - Another weapon straight out of MW2,

SCAR-H Grenade launcher - finally, thanks to DarkRapture, we have a model for the M203 grenade launcher for the SCAR-H. The animations are not perfect, but it's better than none at all.

Semtex Primary Grenade - You can now choose your primary grenade. The Semtex grenade sticks to walls and has a very short fuse.

Blood splatter obituaries - an idea taken from Black Ops, every kill and every death leaves you with a blood splatter notification.

Harriers - Revamped and heavily improved script by Hacker22, the harriers are probably the most destructive of all the AI kill streaks.

Nerve Gas - Replacing the concussion grenade, the Nova 6 nerve gas grenade will disorientate and finally kill anyone in its radius.

Death Machine - this is straight out of Black Ops, the BO minigun - known as the "Death Machine" is a carepackage contents, given randomly with a percentage chance of 10% of getting it.

Here is a video to show off some of the highlights of this new release:

GENERAL INTRODUCTION
---------------------------------------

Welcome to Demon Mod for Call of Duty 4. It is a mod which has only 3 mod modes for ease of use - Force Weapons, PowerClass, and Gun Game. Lets start with PowerClass, as this is the flagship feature of the mod:

1. PowerClass

What is PowerClass?
-------------------------

PowerClass is the most powerful, flexible and Admin-friendly create-a-class mod in the Call of Duty community. With PowerClass, a player has only those weapons, perks or attachments available to him to create his classes with which the Admin decides to allow. It takes only 15 seconds for a player to have all the allowed items unlocked for him. After that, he can create his classes, in any combination he likes, in game. He can then take his pick from his classes, and it will be applied on the next respawn.

However, the beauty of PowerClass is that, at any time, an Admin can decide to disable any weapon, any perk, or any attachment and stop those items being used to create-a-class. If a player has any of the items, it is removed from his create-a-class records.

With PowerClass, there are now 7 create-a-class custom classes. That's right, you heard that correct - the first mod in the Call of Duty modding community to extend the number of custom classes to 7.

Also there is a weapon loadout feature whereby each team gets a different set of weapons. Designed for the true believer that the Spatznes shouldn't get the same weapons as the SAS or US Marine Corp, now you don't get either the Opposition Forces (Opfor) or the Spatznes getting any of the western-issue items, and vice-versa: the SAS and Marines don't get any Kalashnikov or other weapon typically associated with forces from former Soviet powers.

With PowerClass, an Admin decides what weapons are used as the initial ones in the 7 create-a-class spaces. They don't have to be the stock game's weapons of M16, MP5, SAW, Winchester 700 and M40a3. An Admin can decide what weapons they are in any of 3 ways:

1. With the use of the 7 PowerClass default weapon dvars, an Admin determines exactly what 7 weapons will be used. These can be totally edited by the player whenever he likes.

2. Or, with the use of the PowerClass "Rifles Only" dvar, the 5 sniper weapons are loaded out automatically for you (there are only 5 create-a-class positions in this option). These can be totally edited by the player whenever he likes.

3. Or, via the team loadout dvar, an admin can decide to restrict certain teams to certain weapons. These custom classes can be totally edited by the player whenever he likes. The only thing he cannot edit is the primary weapon, as this defines the create-a-class position.

Once a player has everything unlocked for him which the Admin has determined is "allowed" to be unlocked, he can then decide what primary weapons (except team loadout), secondary weapons, attachments and perks to use to create his classes with, in any combination, by using the in-game Class Edit menu. And those choices are then persistently stored for him.

With PowerClass, there is none of this "ranked" and "unranked" nonsense which other mods speak of. Locking and unlocking items is a standard feature of PowerClass and doesn't mean having to set any other dvars to determine whether the server is "ranked" or "unranked".

You will notice that it is called "PowerClass" and not "PowerRank" - this is because PowerClass has nothing to do with ranking you up to lvl 54. In fact, with PowerClass, you rank up as normal, with new unlocks (there are 2 new perks to be unlocked - the "medic" and the "marathon" perk ) and challenges. Starting as you do in modded servers at lvl 1, you continue to rank up as you go, until you reach lvl 54 where you Prestige. Thats right! With Demon Mod PowerClass, you Prestige at level 54 rank.

2. Force Weapons

What is Force Weapons?
-----------------------------

This mod mode is exactly what it says on the box - the Admin decides what weapons, perks, or attachments the players can use, and they cant be edited. This is ideal for servers which want to run such things as pistol-only (for so-called “bash” servers), or shotgun-only.

There is an option to have different weapons per team, so not every team gets exactly the same.

There is an option to choose which perks a player spawns with (this does not work on a per team basis).

Please see forceweapons.cfg for full details of dvars and settings for this game play mode.

3. Gun Game

What is Gun Game?
------------------------

In Gun Game every player is against each other. There are no friendly players, there are no teams, and most importantly no time to think. Players will go through a group of weapons and the player that completes all the necessary kills with each weapon wins the round.

Please see gungame.cfg for all the dvar settings.

To set Gun Game, you have to set it both as a mod mode in demon.cfg and as the gametype in maprotation.cfg.

Credits
=======

Susel - my little Russian friend. He gave me a ton of models, including but not limited to the Intervention, the Black Ops minigun, the Black Ops carepackage create, the MW2 semtex model (and FX), the "death money" FX, the new killstreaks hand radio, and the new Harrier model.
Hacker22 - I revamped his script for the Harriers.

[LAB]HeliMagnet - he wrote the original Demolition gametype script, but it was heavily modified by me and a few others from the Openwarfare forums.

Bell - the original scripter and modder for the AWE (added war effects) mod for vCOD and UO. There are 4 legacy scripts used in this mod which originated with him.

_INSANE_ - for the new MW2 Sentry Gun models and script, for tweaking the SP worldview Stinger model to fit MP player modes better, and for the Stinger missile tracking system.

K!k! - for the MW2 weapon models and animations, and a couple of specular and normal maps for other items. Cheers mate! Excellent job!

Marc aka (Wildcard) - for the basic body-fly code from ACE mod (but I beefed it up as the player didnt fly high enough in my opinion).

ModWarfare Team – for gungame, ingame class editor menu, ReadyUp Period code, health pack models, and other minor utility code snippets and ideas. All rights to their source code is covered by Modder Ethical Public License version 1.0. There website is http://openwarfaremod.com/owforum/portal.php

If you see anything that I have forgotten, either by name or otherwise, let me know and I'll add you or it to this credit list.
