New This Release
----------------------

This release there is another new weapon model straight out of MW2 which replaces the M16 - the SCAR-H. This is a very powerful weapon which equals that of the AK47, though it has less recoil:

SCAR-H with Acog:

SCAR on the Menu:

The SCAR-H does not support the grenade launcher.

*NB* Because of the addition of the SCAR-H, I have unfortunately, exceeded the max number of models, and now mp_citystreets wont load. This is the only stock map that is affected, but please carefully check all your custom maps as it is very likely the max model number will be exceeded on some of them.

Also in this release, there are 3 new perks added from MW2: scavenger, hardline, and cold blooded:

The scavenger perk resupplies all your ammo for both weapons and inventory items from dropped suppy packs:

Image

The hardline perk allows killstreaks to be aquired with 1 less kill.

The cold blooded perk renders you invisible to UAV, sentry guns and attack helicopters (it replaces the GPS Jammer perk as it does the same job, only better).

These are all Tier II perks.

Finally, there is a new killstreak - the little bird attack helicopter:

LittleBird Killstreak:

Although smaller than either the hind or the cobra, it is still deadly as hell. Works exactly the same as the hind/cobra (chopper) killstreak. This is IN ADDITION to the other killstreaks, so that means Demon mod now alllows you to have 5 killstreaks:

1. UAV
2. Airstrike
3. Sentry Gun
4. LittleBird
5. Hind/Cobra

Model was extracted from MW2 by my friend INSANE.

If you already have Demon mod for COD4 on your server, and are already running powerclass, you dont have to reset your classes, as the new weapons and killstreak dont affect them at all.

INTRODUCTION
-----------------------

Welcome to Demon Mod for Call of Duty 4. It is a mod which has only 2 mod modes for ease of use - Force Weapons and PowerClass. Lets start with PowerClass, as this is the flagship feature of the mod:

1. PowerClass

What is PowerClass?
-------------------------

PowerClass is the most powerful, flexible and Admin-friendly create-a-class mod in the Call of Duty community. With PowerClass, a player has only those weapons, perks or attachments available to him to create his classes with which the Admin decides to allow. It takes only 15 seconds for a player to have all the allowed items unlocked for him. After that, he can create his classes, in any combination he likes, in game. He can then take his pick from his classes, and it will be applied on the next respawn.

However, the beauty of PowerClass is that, at any time, an Admin can decide to disable any weapon, any perk, or any attachment and stop those items being used to create-a-class. If a player has any of the items, it is removed from his create-a-class records.

With PowerClass, there are now 7 create-a-class custom classes. That's right, you heard that correct - the first mod in the Call of Duty modding community to extend the number of custom classes to 7.

Also there is a weapon loadout feature whereby each team gets a different set of weapons. Designed for the true believer that the Spatznes shouldn't get the same weapons as the SAS or US Marine Corp, now you dont get either the Opposition Forces (Opfor) or the Spatznes getting any of the western-issue items, and vice-versa: the SAS and Marines dont get any Kalashnikov or other weapon typically associated with forces from former Soviet powers.

With PowerClass, an Admin decides what weapons are used as the initial ones in the 7 create-a-class spaces. They don't have to be the stock game's weapons of M16, MP5, SAW, Winchester 700 and M40a3. An Admin can decide what weapons they are in any of 3 ways:

1. With the use of the 7 PowerClass default weapon dvars, an Admin determines exactly what 7 weapons will be used. These can be totally edited by the player whenever he likes.

2. Or, with the use of the PowerClass "Rifles Only" dvar, the 5 sniper weapons are loaded out automatically for you (there are only 5 create-a-class positions in this option). These can be totally edited by the player whenever he likes.

3. Or, via the team loadout dvar, an admin can decide to restrict certain teams to certain weapons. These custom classes can be totally edited by the player whenever he likes. The only thing he cannot edit is the primary weapon, as this defines the create-a-class position.

Once a player has everything unlocked for him which the Admin has determined is "allowed" to be unlocked, he can then decide what primary weapons (except team loadout), secondary weapons, attachments and perks to use to create his classes with, in any combination, by using the in-game Class Edit menu. And those choices are then persistently stored for him.

With PowerClass, there is none of this "ranked" and "unranked" nonsense which other mods speak of. Locking and unlocking items is a standard feature of PowerClass and doesn't mean having to set any other dvars to determine whether the server is "ranked" or "unranked".

You will notice that it is called "PowerClass" and not "PowerRank" - this is because PowerClass has nothing to do with ranking you up to lvl 54. In fact, with PowerClass, you rank up as normal, with new unlocks (there are 2 new perks to be unlocked - the "medic" and the "marathon" perk ) and challenges. Starting as you do in modded servers at lvl 1, you continue to rank up as you go, until you reach lvl 54 where you Prestige. Thats right! With Demon Mod PowerClass, you Prestige at level 54 rank.

2. Force Weapons

What is Force Weapons?
-----------------------------

This mod mode is exactly what it says on the box - the Admin decides what weapons, perks, or attachments the players can use, and they cant be edited. This is ideal for servers which want to run such things as pistol-only (for so-called “bash” servers), or shotgun-only.

There is an option to have different weapons per team, so not every team gets exactly the same.

There is an option to choose which perks a player spawns with (this does not work on a per team basis).

Please see forceweapons.cfg for full details of dvars and settings for this game play mode.

Other Demon Mod Notable Features
---------------------------------------------

3. There are 4 MW2 weapon models - the MP5k, AK47, M4, and SCAR-H - which replace the stock COD4 one's.

4. There are 2 new killstreaks added in demon mod - the sentry gun, and the little bird helicopter attack ship.

5. Dynamic Perks

There are 3 menus which function like the quickmessage menu - press a key and the perk is instantly applied to you.

There is an "anti-abuse" feature built into Perk Group 1 to stop the inventory items (perk weapons) like C4, Claymores, RPGs or Stingers being used too many times in one sitting. It's basically to stop ammo hacking.

An Admin can decide exactly what perks can be used on the dynamic perk menus by turning off those he doesn't want with dvars.

6. Dynamic Attachments

All new improved dynamic attachments taken from my Demon mod for CODWaW. Now all the attachments for all the weapons are available in game at any time. It automatically scans what weapon you have and assigns all the possible attachments for that weapon. They can also be removed at any time, so that you can attach another, or none at all.

An Admin can decide exactly what attachments can be used on the dynamic attachments menu by turning off those he doesn't want with dvars.

7. Thermal Sniper Scopes

Taken straight out of MW2, a thermal scope can be attached to any sniper rifle from the dynamic attachments menu (sorry - I haven't gotten it to work with the in-game class editor yet but I'm working on it). This renders the enemy more visible as they appear to glow white.

8. Guided Stinger Missiles

Taken out of the Single Player game, the Stingers can be guided to their target by simply pointing the tip of the launcher at it. You get 2 missiles, and when fired in quick succession, they will both be guided simultaneously to the target. Great for blasting the helicopters out of the sky in one go!

9. Tactical Insertion Perk

Another idea taken from MW2, this perk allows you to plant a tactical spawn point to respawn at once you've died. Saves all those long journeys back to where you came from and great for tactically flanking the enemy in objective-based gametypes.

10. Swap Dropped Inventory Items

With Demon mod, dead players drop their perk weapons (inventory items) if they have ammo left in them (they get deleted otherwise), and you can swap-out your own for the dropped one - just like any other weapon!

Also, there is an built-in actionslot handler. As you swap perk weapons, the actionslot gets automatically updated with the new one. There is also a built-in grenade launcher handler, as the GL also occupies the same actionslot as perk weapons do. So, if you have ammo in your GL, but have a perk weapon, the perk weapon takes precedence.

An Admin can disable the dropping of any of the perk weapons with dvars.

11. Capture the Flag Gametype

This is an update of Tally's AWE4 CTF mod. I added new waypoint and pick up shaders, introduced round switch ends, and introduced overtime mode for matches that get dead-locked.

It works on any of the stock COD4, any map which supports Tally's AWE4 CTF, and any custom map which supports SAB gametype. So, it will work on pretty much any map.

12. Team Assault Gametype

This works pretty much like TWAR does in CODWaW - there are a number of objectives which are initially held by the defenders at match start. The attackers must capture all of them to win the game. If they dont, and the defenders hold them or take them back if captures, the defenders win. Objectives can only be captured sequentially.
As the attackers capture each objective, they progressively spawn further and further forward, whereas the enemy is pushed further and further back on the map. However, the enemy can turn this around by capturing the objectives back, in which case the attackers are pushed back on the map. It introduces a push-pull effect to the match.

Team Assault works on any map which supports both DOM and KOTH. The objectives are solid (i.e. you cant walk through them), because I use the KOTH prefabs but just move them to the right (objective) locations.

13. New "Retrieval" Gametype

The attacking team have to retrieve 2 objective items - a VCR and a VCR cassette with vital military imagery on it. The defenders have to stop this happening.

==================================================================

NB:
===
Most "stock" dvars can now be set differently for a specific map or gametype. This is because I made code changes to _tweakables.gsc, and made it compatable with what is commonly refered to in the modding world as the "dvardef" method of defining dvars. This has been a standard feature of AWE since its inception back in good ol' COD1 days, and all the big mods use it. I have included a copy of _tweakables.gsc in the .zip file, so you can check if a stock dvar is defined in this way.

All demon dvars can be set differently for specific gametypes, maps or both together.

==================================================================

Use
====

1. Upload the whole of mp_demon folder inside the .ZIP file to your server's mod directory.
2. Take the config files out of the 'configs' folder and put them next to the IWD and .FF files, or keep the configs inside the 'config' folder and alter the execution commands at the foot of server.cfg file.
3. Upload the .FF and IWD file to your redirect space for client download, and edit the redirect dvars in server.cfg.
4. Edit all the config files how you want them.
5. Make sure that server.cfg is executed from your server start-up command line.

*NB* If this isnt the first time you've installed Demon mod COD4, you need to replace the mod.ff file and IWD file on both your server and redirect space. However, if you are using PowerClass, just increase dvar scr_demon_powerclass_configedit by 1, as previous players to your server dont need to unlock anything but they do need to run PowerClass again to impliment the new changes to it.

=======

_INSANE_ - for the new Sentry Gun mod, for tweaking the SP worldview Stinger model to fit MP player modes better, and for the Stinger missile tracking system.

K!k! - for the MW2 weapon models and animations, and a couple of specular and normal maps for other items. Cheers mate! Excellent job!

Marc aka (Wildcard) - for the basic body-fly code from ACE mod (but I beefed it up as the player didnt fly high enough in my opinion).

Tally - for unstinting friendship and help over the last 3 years, and particular help understanding the new COD4 engine. The code used in this mod has Tally's full permission to use it.
